Abstract: The terminology for fisheries is one of the most important foundations of fishery policies and regulations, administrative management, scientific research, technical promotion, production operation, and production trade. In order to explore the role of standard on terminology of fisheries in promoting technological innovation, pushing forward the dissemination and application of innovation achievements, and normalizing production in fishery industry, and to solve the issues about the inconsistence of terminology of fisheries in fishery industry, the investigation for the current situation of vocabulary of terms in China fishery industry standard was carried out. By using comparison and induction methods, we found the ways to solve the issues existing in standard of fishery vocabulary of terminology in China. That is, to understand the characteristic of Chinese fishery industry, to sort out and analyze the English translation of terminology for fisheries systematically and scientifically, to draw up and revise the standard of terminology for fisheries in strict accordance with China national standard: GB/T10112—1999Terminology Work-principles and Methods, GB/T1.1—2009Directives for Standardization—part 1:Structure and Drafting of Standards》 and GB/T20001.1—2001 Rules for Drafting Standards—part 1:Terminology.
